Building A Hope for The Future
According to a 2019 demographic study, TCP has realized a significant need for the following: a comprehensive preschool program, an affordable and accessible produce market, and an expanded afterschool enrichment program that focuses on technology, trades education, and arts enrichment programs. TCP has already begun the process of developing a preschool program on our premises and looks forward to launching it by 2022.
Understanding the size of Southwest Philadelphia, we know that our educational offering cannot meet the demand if we do not expand our programming beyond our facility. Therefore, our goal is to expand programming to satellite locations throughout Southwest Philadelphia and beyond.
It is also the intent of TCP to address food insecurity through the establishment of an affordable produce market. Since the beginning of 2020, we have worked with several community organizations such as Sankofa Farm’s at Bartram’s Garden, Trellis for Tomorrow, and Compass Philadelphia to strategize our next moves in addressing food security issues that affect the children and families of Southwest Philadelphia. Through a collaborative effort, Bunny’s Garden has received donations of vegetable plants, as well as access to a network of local farmers with whom we hope to invite to sell their produce at our market.
