The Common Place operates as a shared community campus in Southwest Philadelphia, bringing together nonprofit organizations, educational programs, civic institutions, and neighborhood partners under one roof. While each organization listed below operates independently, we collaborate to strengthen access to education, workforce development, public health, environmental stewardship, and civic participation. Together, these partnerships expand opportunity and reinforce our collective commitment to community stability and growth.

Campus Partners
Cornerstone Christian Academy
Cornerstone Christian Academy is a private, independent school that has served Southwest Philadelphia since 1988. Cornerstone has been a long-standing mission partner of Wayne Presbyterian Church and was instrumental in shaping the vision of The Common Place. The school now houses its Development Offices in The Common Place and holds school events, including Chapel, in the building.
Kingsessing Heals Community Resilience Center
Kingsessing Heals Community Resilience Center is a community-based initiative focused on trauma-informed healing, mental health support, and resilience building for individuals and families impacted by violence and crisis. Grounded in the Community Resilience Model, Kingsessing Heals strengthens individual and collective well-being through peer support, behavioral health resources, and programs that foster social connection, self-regulation skills, and hope. The organization works alongside local partners to provide safe, supportive spaces where community members can access services, develop coping strategies, and build long-term pathways toward healing and stability.
On Point Community Training Center
On Point Community Training Center provides adult education and workforce development programs designed to expand access to high-demand career pathways. The organization offers GED preparation, second-chance high school completion opportunities for adults, and medical certification training programs that prepare participants for careers in healthcare and allied health fields. Through hands-on instruction, academic support, and career readiness services, On Point equips individuals with the skills and credentials needed to strengthen employment prospects and advance long-term economic mobility. As a campus partner, On Point contributes to a collaborative ecosystem focused on education, stability, and opportunity within the community.
Salt & Light Community Church
Salt & Light Community Church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and the United Church of Christ (UCC). Formed from the union of New Spirit Community Church (PCUSA) and Grace Christian Fellowship (UCC), this faith community has served the Southwest neighborhood from the corner of 58th Street and Chester Avenue since 2020. Salt & Light worships in the sanctuary of The Common Place on Sunday mornings at 10:30.
Community & Civic Partners
City of Philadelphia
City of Philadelphia – 40th Ward Polling Location
Our campus serves as an official polling place for the City of Philadelphia’s 40th Ward, providing a trusted and accessible space for residents to participate in local, state, and federal elections. By hosting Election Day activities, we support civic engagement and ensure that neighborhood residents have convenient access to the democratic process.
Clean Water Action
Clean Water Action is a nonprofit environmental advocacy organization working to protect public health and advance strong water and environmental protections. Through community organizing, policy engagement, and public education, Clean Water Action addresses issues including drinking water safety, pollution prevention, and environmental justice. As a community partner, Clean Water Action hosts regular meetings at our campus, contributing to civic dialogue and neighborhood engagement around environmental health and sustainability.
John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum
John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum was established for the purpose of preserving, restoring, and developing the natural area known as Tinicum Marsh. In addition, the refuge was established to provide environmental education and an opportunity to study nature. Today, the refuge leads by example in providing environmental education and recreational programming in Philadelphia and Delaware Counties.
Sankofa Community Farm @ Bartram’s Garden
Sankofa Community Farm is a 3.5-acre community-based crop farm, rooted in the experience of the African Diaspora. As a spiritually centered farm, Sankofa prioritizes reverence for Spirit, human beings, and our relationship to the myriad beings beneath and above the soil.
Trellis for Tomorrow
Trellis for Tomorrow‘s Food for All program is an innovative organic garden program providing life-giving, high-impact opportunities for corporations, universities, faith communities, and other groups looking for meaningful community engagement. Trellis staff work together with partner organizations to design and install attractive raised-bed gardens on site, and provide a full stewardship plan for the garden and education of all volunteers.
