Bunny’s Garden is Blooming! 🌱 – MAY 2025
We’re off to a strong start this growing season! Between our two Bunny’s Garden sites, we’ve already harvested approximately 75 pounds of fresh produce, including 85 heads of lettuce and 33 radishes. This food has already made its way into the hands—and kitchens—of our neighbors through our May 10th food distribution. It’s a powerful reminder of what can happen when a community plants with purpose.

Hopefest Garden Day: Saturday, May 31 @ 9 AM
Hopefest is almost here, and we need volunteers at both garden locations!
- 🌼 At SWPC, we’re teaming up with the John Heinz Wildlife Refuge to plant pollinators and provide general garden maintenance.
- 🪵 At 58th Street, we’ll be refreshing garden paths with woodchips, cleaning up, and beautifying the block with street plantings.

We’re Looking for Summer Help!
Our Garden Coordinator does more than just dig in the dirt. When he’s not tending crops, he’s supporting our afterschool and summer programs. With the addition of 9 new beds at the SWPC location, we’re looking for extra hands this summer to help us keep up with demand.
If you love being outside, working with your hands, or learning more about gardening, we’d love your help.
👉 Contact Gene Burke at geneburke@thecommonplacephilly.org to get involved.
Food Distribution: A Growing Need
Last Friday, our newest board member—a longtime supporter of TCP, Dan Hirst —stopped by to deliver food for our weekly distribution. Here he is pictured with Executive Director Chris Holland.
As inflation and economic pressures rise, our food distribution lines continue to grow with families in need. The demand is real, and we need your help to meet it. If you’re able, please consider making a financial contribution. Your support helps us increase our impact and continue to serve our community with dignity and compassion.
