Scholars Hire New Artist in Residence

Happy 2023! The scholars have been working on many different activities this month. TCP is excited to announce the addition of an art specialist who is part of the staff. She will create grade-level activities for scholars to express themselves through various mediums and modes. Scholars are currently creating art portfolios for the artwork they will take home. One of their first projects included learning about landscaping in art.

The scholars were also introduced to the 1619 project wherein
Ms. Huan and Ms. Theresa are offering deep dives into the cultural and historical contributions of black people to America. Guided discussions concerning the idea of what being an American is, financial literacy, and image exploration will all take place grounded in the concepts of social-emotional learning.
