Welcoming New Leadership to The Common Place Board And Honoring a Beloved Member’s Transition

As The Common Place continues to grow in mission and impact, we are thrilled to welcome three exceptional individuals to our Board of Directors—and we take a moment to express heartfelt gratitude to one who has faithfully served our mission for many years.

Welcome to Our New Board Members

Tyhesha R. Tidwell
A dynamic leader in the medical device and pharmaceutical industries, Tyhesha brings more than two decades of experience in quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and product development. She currently serves as Director of Quality Assurance at OSSDSIGN Inc., and has held senior leadership roles at Integra LifeSciences and Naturex. Tyhesha is also deeply committed to community development and education through her volunteer work and affiliations, including the National Association of University Women and the Junior League. Her sharp strategic mind and passion for equity make her a powerful addition to the TCP board.

Daniel T. Hirst, CPA, MST
Dan brings over 30 years of high-level experience as a tax executive, including a long tenure as Vice President of Tax at AmerisourceBergen Corporation (now Cencora). A Philadelphia-area native, Dan has been involved with The Common Place for several years, particularly in support of our Food Sovereignty initiative. He recently joined our Resource and Development subcommittee, where his financial expertise and passion for community wellness will further strengthen our efforts to serve families in Southwest Philadelphia.

Sheryl Durham
Sheryl is a retired financial professional, formerly a Fixed Income Portfolio Manager at The Glenmede Trust Company. She brings extensive board experience, having served seven years as a trustee at The Shipley School and as a long-time Elder at Wayne Presbyterian Church. Sheryl and her family have been avid supporters of The Common Place for years. Through the Jackson Durham Scholarship for Music and Arts, named in memory of their beloved son, the fund has helped open doors for children in our programs to explore and develop their artistic gifts. Sheryl’s deep commitment to healing, youth empowerment, and equity aligns beautifully with TCP’s mission.

Farewell and Thank You, Elisabeth Slate

This season also marks the bittersweet farewell of Elisabeth Slate, who is stepping down from the board as she and her family prepare for a major life transition—relocating to Ireland. A dedicated member of Wayne Presbyterian Church, Elisabeth has faithfully served on our board since 2018. Her thoughtful leadership, generous spirit, and unwavering support for our mission have helped guide TCP through seasons of both growth and challenge. We celebrate this new chapter in Elisabeth’s life and give thanks for the many ways she has blessed The Common Place with her presence.
